Another day, another coronavirus update. COVID-19 cases in Canada continue to rise as the country officially reached 9,595 total cases. The hardest-hit province of them all continues to be Quebec.

Here's everything you need to know for April 2.As of 6:45 PM ET on April 1, the government of Canada has officially confirmed 9,595 of those cases. That includes 109 deaths across the country.

During a press conference Wednesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the application portal for the new Emergency Response Benefit is officially launching on April 6. 

Toronto's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen de Villa informed residents on April 1 that they can expect social distancing to continue for the next 12 weeks

Meanwhile, Premier Doug Ford warned Ontario residents that COVID-19 cases in the province will "surge" in the upcoming weeks, comparing the current growth to that of Italy and Spain.In Alberta, a new pandemic record was broken on April 1. Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced that a total of 117 new cases have been recorded in the province. 

And in B.C., Premier John Horgan announced that he was extending the province's state of emergency by two more weeks.
