COVID-19 Cases In Canada: What You Need To Know On April 8 (VIDEO)
Another day, another coronavirus update. COVID-19 cases in Canada continue to rise as the country officially reached 18,447 total cases. The hardest-hit province of them all continues to be Quebec.
Here's everything you need to know for April 8.
As of 6:45 p.m. ET on April 7, the government of Canada has officially confirmed 18,433 of those cases. That includes 401 deaths across the country.
In his latest press conference, Justin Trudeau confirmed that non-medical masks could be used to help protect others from COVID-19 when you’re out in public.
However, in responding to a question about masks, he said they would prevent you from “speaking moistly” on people and then immediately regretted his word choices. Turns out the PM hates the word moist as much as the rest of us.
A 23-year-old woman in Alberta who tested positive for COVID-19 is now speaking out. The Calgarian wants other young people to know that they are not immune to this virus.
She developed the disease while in Spain and told Narcity that she had a cough, fever, and shortness of breath but said the lung discomfort was her most concerning symptom.
She is now back in Canada and self-isolating in Calgary.
In Ontario, the list of essential services was changed once again. This time both the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy were deemed essential workers by Premier Doug Ford, to ensure the magic of Easter lives on this year.
Canadian Tire didn’t make the cut, however. Since having to switch to curbside pick up or online orders only, there have been reports of the store’s website crashing constantly.
There is one silver lining as the country continues to practice social distancing. New before and after satellite images of air pollution show that cities across Canada are much cleaner with fewer vehicles out on the roads every day.
