Everyone can agree that butterflies are the most beautiful little creature on this earth. When you come across one now and then, some people get lucky and have one land on them. But most of the time, the butterflies fly away way too fast for you to ever get a good glimpse of one up close. Well, lucky for you Dallasites, Texas Discovery Garden is having a butterfly festival filled with everyone's favorite colorful creatures!
The Texas Discovery Gardens hold so many events throughout the year to help you learn more about butterflies and other wildlife.
One of those events is called Flora Fest, an entire afternoon filled with fun activities, one of them being a butterfly release that allows you to release your butterflies up into the skies of their butterfly house.
Texas Discovery Gardens are located in Fair Park, Texas where the appreciation for nature is remarkable!
With 7.5 acres worth of garden space, the upkeep of the garden is maintained by lovely volunteers from the community.
There are a total of three gardens on the property, the Master Garden, The Shakespeare Garden, and of course, The Butterfly Garden.
If you can't wait to go to Flora Fest, check out a massive butterfly house!
The Butterfly Garden includes a two-story-tall house for the butterflies to live in, making it one of the biggest butterfly houses in Texas.
When you first enter the house, you'll be greeted with a pamphlet of all of the different butterflies you could see.
A tip we've heard is if you find the fruit bowls scattered throughout the habitat, you're guaranteed to see some butterflies snacking there.
On the lower level is the emergence chamber, where you'll see the premature stages of butterflies such as butterfly chrysalises and moth cocoons.
You may even see some emerge if you're lucky!
The upper level is where you'll see plenty of butterflies roaming free just ready to land on you.
Admission is only $10 and you have full access to all the gardens to make an entire day out of it.
Make a game out of finding all of the butterflies you can on the pamphlet and see who wins!
