The DFW Metroplex is a place filled with tons of festive malls and fun places to visit for the holidays. One of the coolest places to go is the Galleria Mall for their insane holiday set up. According to Texas Hill Country, Dallas has the tallest indoor Christmas tree in the world. If that's not enough to wow you, you can also ice skate around the tree for tons of winter fun.
While the tree went up yesterday on November 3, the official lighting ceremony won't be until November 29 at noon. The event is free, but if you want to go ice skating beneath the giant tree, you'll need $15 for entry and skate rental fee.
The tree is 95 feet tall and is topped off with a star at add 10 feet on top of that. The mall will have tons of events from November 29 to December 31 so, you'll have plenty of time to check the display out.
If you're trying to get a good shot of the tree in all of its glory, you might want to hit the third or fourth floor. The tree is so large that you need to get up high to try and fit the entire thing in one shot.
While you're there, you can get tons of shopping done and enjoy plenty of holiday entertainment. The Galleria is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
For more holiday fun, you can check out the Dallas Zoo which will have wonderful lights set up all over the place. You'll be able to stay late and see life-sized animal lanterns.
