The Biggest North Texas "Fan Festival" Is Coming Next Month

There are plenty of opportunities to cosplay, gather, meet your favorite celebrities, and have fun but none as big as this one. Fan Expo is coming to Dallas for a three-day celebration from May 3rd to 5th. The expo will take place at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and boy, do they have amazing nerdy treats in store for everyone!

At the expo, you will be able to meet some of pop cultures biggest celebrities including Lynda Carter, Zachary Levi, David Harbour and Danielle Panabaker amongst many other famous names. You will be able to take pictures and get autographs from them while enjoying many more attractions.

Aside from meeting celebrities, there will also be an artist ally where you can visit famous comic book artists to discuss their work and even purchase prints from the artists themselves. You will also have a chance to get your favorite comic book or movie character tattooed to keep them permanently close to you.

If you're looking to add to your collection of memorabilia, there will be a massive shopping alley where you will be able to find everything from t-shirts to rare collectibles. There you will also be able to find a series of different photo opportunities that will make you feel like you're at Arkham or even on Endor.

One of their biggest attractions is a Harry Potter escape room where you can reenact your favorite scenes and try to escape the vault in the giant Wizarding Bank. Who wouldn't want to try this?!

Cosplay for the event is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. The expo does have a strict "ask before you take a picture" rule when meeting someone who looks just like your favorite character.

Ticket to the convention start at just $25 and work their way up to $500 depending on your choice of ticket. You can find more information and purchase your tickets on the Fan Expo website here!

Fan Expo returned to Toronto after a two-year break, and being a journalist (finally) came in handy for me: I got a free media pass for the event and I was pumped.

The three-day event kicked off on Friday, October 22, and I decided to go check it out mainly to see what Toronto's cosplay scene was like, and to attend a panel with Canada's own Captain Kirk, Billy Shatner. But I did end up doing, seeing, and buying a lot more stuff than I thought I would.

Legendary Canadian actor William Shatner was at Fan Expo over the weekend, and he reminisced about his time in Toronto — back when he was a starving actor from Montreal just trying to get by in the 6ix.

On Friday, October 22, the first day of the Fan Expo held at the Metro Toronto Convention center, Shatner told some personal stories about his youth living in Toronto's Sherbourne area.
