Plano Is Getting A New Dog-Friendly Permanent Movie Theater

K9 Cinemas will now be open six days a week in Plano.

You know when you go out and you feel bad because your dog is at home waiting for you? Well, now K9 Cinemas is giving you the option of bringing your dogs to the movies with you.

K9 Cinemas is having a grand opening party in Plano on May 4. The party will start at noon until 5 p.m. and will be located at 1192 Greenway Dr. During the event, there will be movies playing in the background while dog owners can enjoy food as their dogs make friends. After the festivities, there will be a movie showing at 8 p.m.

The theater started as a pop-up in Plano. They could only show a few movies every now and then but with recent new funding, they will be able to stay open and show movies six days out of the week. They have also gotten an upgrade to their theater by adding couches to make it easier for your pets to get through.

Then you take your pet for the first time you have to be able to present the proper paperwork from your vet stating that your furry friend has all their shots. You are allowed to bring two dogs to the theater as long as you clean up after them.

Tickets for the theater are $15 and if you chose to bring your second dog. At the theater, you will be able to enjoy $2 concessions and free wine or whiskey.

The theater was started by Eric Lankford and his dog Bear. The location was just intended to be a pop-up for the local communities before it gained global fame in December of 2018.

They have now fully moved into their new location which can seat up to 60 dogs where their old one could only seat 30.
