There are a few things that all Dallasites eagerly wait for every year, one of them being the biggest state fair in the state, the State Fair of Texas. Each year the fair brings incredible attractions, food, rides, shows, and more to the big city and almost everyone heads on over to enjoy a night out there. The most famous icon from the State Fair is their 55-foot-tall mascot, Big Tex, and you could be his voice.

That's right, Big Tex is in need of a new voice actor. This isn't any old voice acting gig, you'll get the chance to work at the State Fair of Texas as his voice throughout the entire event this fall and potentially through the future.

If you think you've got the big, booming, country voice the State Fair is looking for, you should definitely look into applying, it's easy!

Check out the job description and everything that would be required when voicing the giant mascot and get practicing creating your own proud cowboy voice.

Once you're ready, you will record yourself reading the provided scripts in your character voice and will send them in along with your application.

Some notable lines you'll be reading are "Howdy, folks! This is Big Tex. Welcome to the State Fair of Texas" and "What’s a cowboy got to do to get a funnel cake around here?"

Applications are due by Wednesday, April 15, 2020, so there's no time to delay.

Being the voice of Big Tex is no easy task, you will be required to attend the State Fair of Texas in Dallas-Fort Worth every day from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from September 25 to October 18.

The job opened after 8 weeks ago, the State Fair announced with great sadness the passing of the voice of Big Tex, Mr. Robert Boykin. He is a talented legend to live up to!

The position is independently contracted and is annually reviewed based on job performance. However, they are looking to keep a voice actor for a long period of time.
