Netflix Canada’s “Dirty John” Season 2 Storyline May Be More Messed Up Than The First

So much DRAMA!
Netflix Canada’s “Dirty John” Season 2 Storyline May Be More Messed Up Than The First

Everyone loves drama, as long as it has nothing to do with them. Which is why everyone is excited for Dirty John season 2. Last season focused on Debra Newell and her newfound love John Mehan, who turns out to be nothing that he says he was. While season 1 was pretty messed up, Dirty John season 2 is supposed to be 100 times worse.

Season 2 will follow Betty Broderick, played by Amanda Peet, and her husband Dan, played by Christian Slater. This new season takes place from the 1960s to 1980s.

Betty is described by the showrunners as being, "the perfect southern California blonde wife and mother." She met Dan in college and supported his journey to becoming a big lawyer in California.

The press release for season 2 actually sounds pretty disturbing, "Betty's attempts to fight back and enraged refusals to accept reality only serve to isolate and destabilize her until she loses her very identity. And Dan's cold confidence blinds him to the bear he has created, and won't stop poking...until it's too late."

While season 2 is going to be completely different, writer Alexandra Cunningham assures us that season 2 will still have the same "coercive" and "insidious elements" that we all loved in season 1.

Betty is actually a character featured in many novels that set out to tell her story, including having an entire podcast episode of My Favorite Murder dedicated to her story.

There's been no release date for Season 2 of Dirty John yet, but it has started production!
