11 Movie & Show Reboots That Are Coming To Disney+ Canada

This is what dreams are made of.
Disney+ Canada Reboots

Since Disney+ has launched, it's given its customers complete access to their entire Disney childhoods. With shows like Boy Meets World, and movies like the original Lion King, other streaming platforms aren't able to offer what they do. Now that they're entering their first official year as a launched service, they've also announced a ton of other Disney+ Canada reboots you'll be able to stream so soon.

Your favourite movies and shows that defined Disney in the '90s and early '00s won't have to be stuck in the past anymore.

Most of the content set to be rebooted is still in the preproduction stages with little information known.

However, the lack of casting news isn't exactly a bad thing. It means these reboots still offer up the opportunity of seeing some familiar faces on our screens again.

People like Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, and Macaulay Culkin all starred in movies or shows that have been granted a remake.

So it's time to ring in 2020 by refreshing your memory of the following classics.

Here are 11 movie and show reboots coming to Disney+ Canada:

The Parent Trap

The classic story of twins who were switched at birth is getting told again.

The original film had its release back in 1961 followed by the 1998 version where Lindsay Lohan starred as both sisters.

Another set of twins will be teaming up in order to get their parents back together and it's all thanks to Disney+.

Home Alone

One of the world's biggest Christmas movies is getting a reboot and filming starts in Montreal this coming summer!

Not only that but casting for the film has already been announced.

While it's yet to be revealed whether or not original characters will be returning to the comedy, we do have some tidbits about the plot.

The storyline will be reworked into a 2020 setting but the main characters won't be related to each other like they were in the originals.

Three Men and a Baby

This '80s comedy that starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson follows three men in New York City who find themselves having to care for a baby after it's left outside their house.

While Disney+ has admitted to rebooting this film, little to no information is known about the plot or casting.

The Sword in the Stone

The Sword in the Stone is getting it's very own live-action version on Disney+. After almost 60 years, this magical world is set to be rebooted.

The story follows King Arthur's reign and his shenanigans with the wizard Merlin.

Lizzie McGuire

The Lizzie McGuire reboot will be the first out of all these productions to become a reality on our streaming platforms. The show has been in production now for a few months and has revealed a release date of sometime in 2020.

The rebooted sitcom will follow Lizzie, now grown up, living in New York struggling to figure out life as a 30-year-old.

It's also been announced that the whole McGuire gang including best friend Gordo, will also be reprising their roles.

The Proud Family

This iconic cartoon that made waves back in the early 2000s will also be returning. There has been a time jump, however, with the Proud family having aged substantially.

Seasons 1 and 2 of the show will also be hitting the platform in January 2020, getting fans prepared for the reboot.

Peter Pan

Live-actions are all the rage with Disney right now and Peter Pan is next on their list. The media platform had its first live-action release when it launched with Lady and the Tramp.

Now it's been announced that director David Lowery will be leading the Peter Pan reboot that began production earlier this year.

Night at the Museum

Night at the Museum is also a fairly new release with the first films coming out in 2006, 2009, and the other in 2014. The film and Ben Stiller's success has granted this story a reboot.

Father of the Bride

Due to the success of the franchise, Disney+ has decided to dig this storyline out of the movie vault for another round.

Not much information has been released about casting or plot as of yet.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

The start date for this production has been set for sometime in 2020. Although all three movies in the series were released this decade, there will be a reboot of the comic series that follows Greg Heffley and his challenges through middle school.

Cheaper by the Dozen

The Lizzie McGuire reboot may not be the only place to see Hilary Duff return to our screens. The 2003 movie seeing a family of 14 trying to navigate life with each other, will begin production sometime next year.

However, it hasn't been announced whether the Cheaper by the Dozen reboot will feature original characters or reboot the cast completely.
