Disney+ “Mighty Ducks” Reboot

Word of a Disney+ Mighty Ducks reboot came out a few months ago and fans of the franchise were beyond excited. The news only gets better though, as the Illuminerdi reported that Emilio Estevez is set to return in his role as Coach Gordon Bombay.

According to the exclusive report, Illuminerdi has learned that the 57-year-old actor will be a series lead, so we’ll be seeing a lot of him throughout the ten 30-minute episodes that will be coming to the streaming service.

Estevez starred in both The Mighty Ducks and D2: The Mighty Ducks. He also appeared in D3: The Mighty Ducks, but was only able to make a cameo due to scheduling conflicts, Illuminerdi reports.

Slash Film has released a brief synopsis for the upcoming series which reads, “After getting kicked off the junior division Mighty Ducks team, a 13-year-old boy and his mom decide to start their own team, finding players, a coach, and a place to play.”

According to Exclaim, filming for the upcoming Disney+ original series is set to begin in Vancouver on February 10, and wrap up on June 1 of this year.

Other cast members for the reboot have yet to be confirmed, but the fact that Estevez is on board is major news.

The Mighty Ducks isn’t the only reboot that Disney+ has in the works. According to Screenrant, the streaming service is also working on updated versions of Cheaper by the Dozen, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Night at the Museum, among others.

The platform’s Lizzie McGuire reboot has also been making headlines since it was announced, although an official trailer and release date have yet to be confirmed.

Another Disney+ project filming in Canada in 2020 will be the Home Alone reboot. According to Pop Goes the News, the cameras will be rolling in Montreal, Quebec from early February to mid-April.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Estevez and other stars while you’re exploring Vancouver this spring.
