If you're planning a visit to Disney in Anaheim, you might want to think ahead. Disneyland stopped selling tickets today after reaching maximum capacity.
According to Fox 11 News, while Disneyland is closed, Disney California Adventure remains open as of 11:40 a.m. PST.
Earlier today at 10:42 a.m., Disneyland Today made an announcement on Twitter, saying, "Disneyland Park is very busy today. Please check the Disneyland App for the latest wait times and schedules to plan your day. Maximize your Disneyland Resort experience by checking out the #FestivalofHolidays at Disney California Adventure Park!"
They followed up with another Twitter post, announcing the temporary freeze of tickets for those who wanted to visit the vacation destination.
Park officials report that the theme park has been busy all day today.
Guests took to social media to voice their complaints. One tweet said, "@DisneylandToday trying to get into the park from parking garage but says Disneyland is closed. What gives?"
Another user said, "Matterhorn, Millennium Falcon, and Indiana Jones are all at 2 hour wait times, according to the app."
Despite park closure, guests who are annual pass holders are allowed park admission. At this time, Disneyland and park officials have not reported when tickets will go back on sale.
This isn't the first time that the famous California park has had to shut down due to overcrowding. People anticipated the rush after the development of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and it could get crazier with the opening of the new Rise of the Resistance ride in January 2020.
Las Vegas Weekly estimated Disneyland caps out at 80,000 guests and California Adventure holds around one-half of that number.
