Social distancing has forced many of us to hold off on gatherings and events we had planned, but society has come up with several ways to accommodate our seclusion. Although it's still safe to enjoy nature solo, many companies in the outdoor industry have halted business. But you can still take a virtual dolphin tour in Savannah right from your couch.
Captain Mike's Dolphin Adventure Tours is a family-owned and operated business established in 1992, offering immersive dolphin tours, sunset cruises and inshore/deep sea fishing excursions on Tybee Island.
Unfortunately, business is currently closed due to public health concerns amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, but Captain Mike is still keeping maritime adventurers happy with an online virtual dolphin tour posted on Wednesday, March 18.
The organization live-streamed a lengthy dolphin tour through the Tybee waters for all to enjoy. You can view the tour via their Facebook page to hopefully catch some adorable Bottlenose dolphins splashing in their natural habitat.
You can find some peace, serenity, and fun during this hour-long at-sea adventure and learn about the history of the waters of Savannah.
You can even take a gander of the Fort Pulaski, the Old Cockspur Lighthouse and the North Beach of Tybee Island.
In a Facebook announcement, Capt. Mike's states, "as much as we wish we could, the financial burden to offer daily virtual tours is unfortunately too great without any income at this time."
However, you can still access the tour indefinitely. "The videos are still available for viewing if you need a visual break," the statement continues.
Although you aren't able to feel the ocean breeze on your face, the calming sound of the wind and the POV perspective of the consoling waters may help you find a hint of happiness from an actual ship during these hardships.
