Doug Ford's Cheesecake Chatter Just Got Blasted By Ontario's Liberal Leader (VIDEO)

Now is not the time for cheesecakes, apparently. In a new video posted on social media, Ontario’s Liberal Party leader has taken aim at Doug Ford, by calling out the premier’s new dessert recipe. Taking a moment to point out some of the COVID-19 statistics in the province, Steven Del Duca stated, “It’s not time for cheesecakes,” an apparent dig at Doug Ford’s cheesecake chatter.

In a video shared to Twitter, Ontario’s Liberal Party leader can be seen standing in his kitchen, as though he is going to start a cooking video.

However, rather than offer up his own baking recipe, Steven Del Duca took the opportunity to make a dig at Ontario Premier Doug Ford, who has been making headlines for his recent cheesecake chat.

Drawing attention to the COVID-19 outbreaks in Ontario’s long term care facilities, Del Duca stated, “It’s not time for cheesecakes and wishful thinking.”

The Liberal leader continued, “It’s time for real leadership.”

Del Duca’s comments come just one day after Doug Ford released his “famous” cherry cheesecake recipe, which he has been gushing about since the beginning of the week.

While many people embraced the premier’s lighter side, it seems Del Duca is unimpressed by Ford’s affinity for baking.

In the minute-long video, Del Duca explains, “Here I am in my kitchen today. This is where me and my family spend an awful amount of time baking and cooking.”

He went on, “And you know as well as I do, that when you are baking and cooking, it’s important to measure what matters, those numbers really matter.”

Before making his cheesecake dig, Del Duca notes that 1,300 people in Ontario care facilities have died due to COVID-19, and added that staff in these environments have been “waiting more than six weeks for personal protective equipment.”

The sweet-treat saga began earlier this week, when the Ontario premier revealed to reporters that he makes “the best cherry cheesecake ever.”

After his comments received plenty of attention from the press and public, he released the recipe for his dessert on Friday, via a video on Twitter.

During the video, Ford explained that baking is just “one of the fun things you can do” while stuck in lockdown.

At the time of writing, Del Duca's video had more than 600 likes on Twitter, with a number of Canadians responding to praise the Liberal leader's message.

However, a number of locals also replied to criticize his video, one describing it as "petty and childish."

Doug Ford is yet to publicly respond to the anti-cheesecake clip.
