Drake's Dad drama has reached This Is Us levels and with what his dad said about his music, we're not surprised. Every family has its issues, but most families don't have a public platform to share their problems with the world. Like Drake says, "My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him" and it seems like he did just that.
Drake has never been shy when it came to discussing the issues he's faced with his father during his childhood. In songs like 0 to 100 and Look What You've Done, the Canadian rapper has shown us the abandonment he went through with his father as a child.
Although the two are on better terms now and are actually in each other's lives quite often, Drake didn't hesitate to put his father in place after a recent interview with Nick Cannon.
His father, Dennis Graham, told Nick Cannon that Drake was lying about their relationship in his music. He said, "I have always been with Drake. I talk to him if not every day, every other day...I said, ‘Drake why are you saying all of this different stuff about me, man? This is not cool.’ And he goes ‘Dad, it sells records.'"
Drake didn't waste any time responding to his father's allegations with a paragraph on his Instagram story saying,
"Woke up today so hurt man. My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with…every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”
This isn't the first time Graham has tried denying his son's lyrics and claiming that Drake was framing him as the villain in his songs, but this is the first time Drake has spoken out about it.
From the way he worded his message, it seems like he may have the intention of keeping his father in his life, and that his "untrue" statements are something he's going to have to deal with.
Family through thick and thin, right?
