Drake has to be one of the busiest celebrities out there. Not only is he constantly making music, music videos, and repping the Raptors, the Canadian rapper has been making huge waves in the film industry recently. This summer he made his debut as an executive producer on the HBO show Euphoria starring Zendaya. With raving reviews, Drake is now moving into the Netflix scene with the reboot of an old show from the UK. Drake's Top Boy revival will be premiering on Netflix Canada next month.
Drake snagged the rights to the UK drama back in 2017 after the original series ran from 2011-2013. Acting as executive producer, Netflix describes Top Boy as being about, "Two seasoned drug dealers [who] return to the gritty streets of London, but their pursuit of money and power is threatened by a young and ruthless hustler."
The show is taking place right after the events of the original series and will have an initial 10 episode run. Alongside Drake will be original showrunners Charles Steel and Alasdair Flind.
Netflix's vice president had nothing but kind words to say about the reboot, "We couldn't be more excited for Netflix members around the world and a new generation of fans to discover the authentic, raw and real-world of Top Boy."
They admitted that Drake came to them months ago, "with a passion to help bring this series back to life, and [Netflix] we're thrilled to support the original creative team to do just that."
Top Boy will be available to stream on Netflix on September 13.
