This Dual Waterfall Lookout Is The Perfect Beautiful Rest Stop For Your Ontario Late-Summer Road Trips
If you find yourself road-tripping across western Ontario this summer, you simply have to stop at this adorable dual waterfall Ontario lookout spot. Nestled on the edge of Quetico Provincial Park just off of Highway 11, Little Falls Scenic Lookout is the perfect place to take a break, stretch your legs, or have a picnic. The spot gives you a stunning view of two waterfalls, making it one of the most scenic rest stops in Ontario.*
Atikokan's community services manager, Tom Hainey, told Narcity the two waterfalls are technically one waterfall that has been divided by the land.
"It's surprising to see something that spectacular in our small town," says Hainey. "The way it's designed...it's very picturesque."
There are several fun ways to access Little Falls. You can drive, portage, walk, or even snowmobile in the winter months. If you are arriving by car there is a small parking lot about a three- to five-minute walk from the lookout.
If hiking is more your speed, there are a few trails that lead in from the small nearby town of Atikokan.
Once you have arrived, you will find plenty of picnic tables and a sheltered picnic area that offers a shady hangout on hot summer days.
There's also a small cable suspension bridge that will bring you closer to the falls and give you a better view of the second, smaller waterfall.
While its roadside convenience and relaxing atmosphere make Little Falls Lookout an ideal rest stop, you could easily spend the day exploring the area as well.
Known as the canoeing capital of Ontario, Atikokan offers access to some of the most beautiful canoe water routes. Atikokan is also home to Quetico Provincial Park, where you will find large rock cliffs, amazing wildlife, and even more waterfalls to chase.
