A new conveyor-belt sushi restaurant recently opened in Toronto's Yorkdale Mall. Tora serves traditional Japanese dishes and flame-seared sushi, served to you on a moving conveyor belt.
Conveyor-belt sushi restaurants are super popular in Japan, and now you can experience the same fun dining experience at the Yorkdale Mall. Owner Seigo Nakamura, originally from Miyazaki, Japan described his goal for Tora, "I want our guests to enjoy the entire experience of dining, from the surprise and delight of the technology, to the flavour and presentation of the food, to the friendly and welcoming service. I want to immerse the guests in this experience, and bring a little joy to everyone who walks into the space.”
One of Tora's signature dishes is Aburi sushi, with "Aburi" translating to "flame seared". This type of heat enhances the sushi's texture and flavour, giving it a smoky depth and enhancing the umami.
Tora's dishes are perfect for sharing, so you can sample a bunch of different things each visit! Along with the Aburi sushi, you'll also find on the menu delicious classic Japanese dishes like sushi rolls, sashimi, sukiyaki, gyoza, karaage, and agedashi tofu.
Tora also offers a mouthwatering dessert menu, including mochi ice cream, black sesame cheesecake, and Japanese-style ice cream parfaits loaded with sweet adzuki beans and matcha ice cream.
Open daily from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM (except Sundays until 9:00 PM), Tora is in the southwest corner on the upper level of the Yorkdale Shopping Centre. For more information about Tora, visit their website.
