Here's a way to give back and enjoy a tasty Canadian classic. Smoke's Poutinerie is donating pounds of potatoes to local food banks this weekend. You can help make that happen just by ordering and eating the Canadian classic.

April 11 is National Poutine Day and to celebrate the holiday, the super Canadian dish is being used to help a good cause with Smoke's Poutinerie buy one, give four promotion.

For every one potato dish that's sold on April 11 and April 12, two pounds of potatoes will be donated to local food banks.

Foodies Unite is also helping out by matching every donation so that four pounds will be sent to make it a buy one, give four thing.

Every delivery and takeout sale will be counted towards this donation.

So you can help out food banks in your community just by ordering and then eating poutine.

There are locations in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador.

"Smoke's Poutinerie has always been committed to being a responsible community leader, it is one of our core brand values," said Ryan Smolkin, founder and chief entertainment officer for the restaurant, in a news release.

"We have the opportunity to come together as Canadians and support each other by providing essentials to community members in need," said Smolkin.

The chain has more than 30 different varieties of the dish for you to choose from if you decide to order this weekend and support the cause.

You can get it in the traditional style with fries, Quebec cheese curds and gravy, or go a bit more extravagant like with a pulled pork or a bacon cheeseburger poutine.

All over the country people, businesses and even celebrities are stepping up to help those in need whether it be giving food or giving money.

Wu-Tang Clan donated to the Ottawa Food Bank and Ryan Reynolds donated to an Edmonton food bank because he loves the city.

Tim Hortons is also giving away free coffee to people who are serving their communities during COVID-19.
