For some, August means we are just that much closer to the fall seasons. We look forward to cooler weather, apple picking, and cider drinking. One of the largest orchards in the state is hosting their 2nd annual hard cider & craft beer festival in August and you will not want to miss it.
Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia has multiple U-pick days for their many fruits like strawberries, apples, and blackberries that they harvest throughout the year. They also have a market and cafe that you can buy and try fresh baked goods and treats. One of the best parts is their farm winery where you can taste fruit wine and cider made right there at the orchards.
Usually, these orchards have kids running around everywhere, racing and seeing who can pick the most fruit. At this event, you can enjoy the peace and quiet because only those 21 and up can attend.
There will be tons of vendors here, so you're bound to find more than a few drinks to enjoy. You will have different options of ciders, craft beers and wines to try and you can pick your favorites.
There are 10 types of cider that will be there including Mercier Cider, Ace Cider and Strongbow Cider. For beer, you can choose from options like Grumpy Old Men, Creature Comforts and Sweetwater. As of now, there is only one wine option which is Viking Alchemist Mead.
While you sip and socialize, you will hear the music of the Woodstock era with two bands that will be in attendance. Rumours: A FleetwoodMac Tribute Band and RUNNING DOWN A DREAM: A Tom Petty Revue might play songs like Landslide and Free Fallin'.
Tickets are $45 and include tasting from all the vendors, a souvenir cup, two 16 oz drink tickets and cornhole, extreme beer pong, and other games for more play. It is suggested to buy tickets online because there will only be a limited supply available at the door.
If you want to purchase another 16 oz drink after you finish your free samples, it will only be $6 to purchase. There will also be food for purchase, so do not fear about drinking and having nothing to munch on.
