This New Super Cute Rustic Georgia Restaurant And Bar Is Any Cowgirl's Dream Eatery
If you've ever been to Milton, you know it's a ritzy suburb outside of Atlanta (afterall, Kim Zolciak lives there). It's super pretty with green, open pastures and you're bound to see lots of horses. It's known for its elegant country feel and is a great place to find peace and serenity. To add to this old south farm feel, just north of Atlanta is a cute farm-style barn restaurant that you have to try.
7 Acre BarnGrill opened their doors in June 2019. Its unique aesthetic and local southern food with a twist has caught the attention of Alpharetta dwellers and visitors, bringing it much success already. It also helps that it's the only restaurant within a 4-mile stretch of the area (talk about a country feel). You'll find it sitting pretty right off the side of Hickory Flat Road. This rustic, but luxurious barn-style restaurant is a refurbished building from 1926 and it sits on seven acres of land (hence the name).
The inspiration behind 7 Acre BarnGrill stems from the goal of providing home-style meals with a twist, while keeping it casual. Sustainability is also key here, which is why they have a small garden and herb bed right outside the restaurant.
According to Josh Read, General Manager at 7 Acre BarnGrill, they grow two types of tomatoes, corn, jalapenos and several herbs. "We source as locally as possible," says Read. "Local residents often bring in their own crops, such as lemon balm." Josh also told Narcity that the restaurant will begin to sow seeds and expand their garden to 1/8th of an acre in the fall.
Right when you walk in, you will see a wall of seed packets for purchase, so you can also plant your own crops. In the near future, 7 Acre plans to set up a system in which customers can bring back the fruits of their labor (pun intended) and sell them back to the restaurant, or have them make a custom dish for you using your own ingredient(s).
The tavern-style menu will be tweaked monthly and changed seasonally, depending on the fresh ingredients available. You can expect to see dishes like "Ahi Tuna Poke", "Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 BBQ Meatballs", "Salmon and Scallop Hot Bowl" and the "Slow Cooker Beef Brisket." They serve homemade old-school desserts like pecan pie, apple pie and buttermilk pie to make you feel right at home in grandma's kitchen.
The drink offerings really put the "bar" in "barn". You'll find over 50 wines by the glass or bottle and 12 local beers on tap. Every beer they sell is brewed in Georgia. Crack open a cold one from Creature Comforts, Wild Heaven, Jekyll and more. If you love drinking local, try theseif you haven't already!
Even though Milton is a wealthy part of town, you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy this barn-style joint. Round up your cowgirls and cowboys and gather 'round for some modern southern grub.
