Is there ever a time when you'd say no to tacos? If so, you need to re-evaluate your life. Tacos aren't just for Tuesdays, but this all-new Mexican restaurant offers cheap tacos in New Orleans every Tuesday. The unique mix of Cajun seafood and Mexican fare will definitely lure you back for more savory goodness.
Chilangos Bar & Grill is a new spot that opened on Oct. 28 right near NOLA in Kenner. The Mexi-Cajun eatery offers a unique menu, drawing inspiration from sister restaurant Chilangos Restaurant. The brand new fusion spot combines Cajun and Mexican flavors in a vibrant, tropical setting.
The authentic taqueria has bright blue and pink walls and decor and even houses tall wooden booths that were custom built in Mexico. You don't need to travel all the way to Cancun to get the real deal.
Every Tuesday night, eat as many tacos as you can handle because the fan favorites are only $1. Choose from a plethora of protein fillings such as carne asada, chicken, carnitas, roasted brisket and barbacoa.
You can expect to indulge in spicy seafood cocktails served in massive, bulbous margarita-like glasses. The Vuelve a la Vida (meaning "return to life") is known to cure hangovers with the flavor-packed concoction of shrimp, oysters and octopus in a tangy cocktail sauce with garlic and citrus.
You can also enjoy starters like ceviche, nachos, raw oysters topped with avocado and pico de gallo. Fully pig out out with various selections of tortas or sizzling seafood fajita platters.
The tiki-style spot has a salsa bar with varying heat levels and a full cocktail bar with tropical rum drinks, margaritas, pina coladas, mojitos and more. Down a few for a little liquid courage because there is also karaoke on the weekends.
For more classic Cajun adventures, check out this massive Louisiana food festival this month, completely free to attend. Opt for something different for brunch this weekend and drink a spicy Bloody Mary with an entire fried crab on top.
