Since sugar is technically a food group, you can get your daily dose of ice cream without the guilt, right? If you're looking for something new and exciting beyond your basic sugar cone, this new ice cream in North Carolina will serve you well. The sweet spot serves matcha ice cream in fun, fish-shaped cones.

Ocha Time is a brand new Asian-inspired creamery that joined the Charlotte scene on January 24. The dessert spot serves all things ice cream and sweets with a unique twist.

The iconic Taiyaki-style ice cream is a big hit that attracts sugar-lovers seeking to indulge in something out-of-the-ordinary. Taiyaki is a popular Japanese "cake" typically made with waffle or pancake batter and filled with red bean paste. However, in U.S. culture, it's common to fill them with ice cream.

These "cones" don't pack your typical crunch. They are actually soft and cake-like for a unique texture you may not be used to. At Ocha time, you can choose to fill yours with either matcha or vanilla soft-serve.

If you do happen to crave that crispy crunch, you can get waffle cone "tacos" filled with ice cream and lots of toppings.

You'll also find several rolled ice cream concoctions like "S'mores S'mores" with chocolate ice cream, graham cracker, marshmallow, whipped cream and chocolate drizzle; or the Vietnamese coffee option with coffee, condensed milk, and whipped cream.

You can also customize your bowl with over 15 mix-ins and over 30 toppings.

Additional classic Asian treats like bubble tea, customizable tea and dark brown sugar milk are offered as well. You can even get colorful slushies or fruit tea if you're looking for something more refreshing.

Prices range from $3 to $8 so you can please your sweet tooth without displeasing your budget.
