Belmont, North Carolina has all the small town charm you could ever want without being too far from the big city. There's even more of a reason to get out of Charlotte and visit the quaint town. Belmont is home to one of the most unique bars in North Carolina, and it's pretty unbelievable how it's been transformed.
The Jailhouse quite literally lives up to its name because it was once an actual real jailhouse. It hasn't seen any prisoners since 1969, and the only thing they're serving here are top-notch drinks and cigars.
Various features of the original jailhouse still remain intact, like the iron cell doors, notes etched into the walls from former inmates, and concrete rooms.
Although the drinks are super upscale, this is the perfect place to hit up for a weekday happy hour. Some of the amazing specials include:
$8 signature cocktails on Monday
$4 local beers on Tuesday
Half off wine on Wednesday
Bartender's choice cocktail on Thursday
Outside of the specials, you have to make some hard decisions, choosing from 150 different types of whiskey, flights, and craft cocktails.
While you can't purchase food directly from this bar, you can still get your craving fix by ordering from their sister concept, Old Stone Steakhouse, and their small bites menu. Be sure to indulge in some half-price bites Monday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Not everyone can just waltz into this bar. You need to purchase a day membership for $2 or cough up $12 for an annual membership.
