Imagine a fresh batch of crispy french fries right out of the frier, and smothered in feta cheese! Then you suddenly get a whif of an aroma of spices and delicious pastries in the air. That's what it's like to attend Houston's Annual Original Greek Festival, which is coming back for it's 53rd straight year.
On October 3, for three whole days, you can indulge in the finest Greek foods from huge gyros to sausage on a stick. If you're feeling responsible and healthy, there are salad options available as well. There's mix of local vendors and food made by the event organizers themselves, and the only rule they have to follow is that every piece of food has to be homemade.
When you need a break from all the deliciousness you will come across, there will be activities to discover within the festival grounds. Get energized by traditional Greek dancers and work off that baklava through dance tutorials that are included with admission of only $5!
This festival will also display fashionable jewelry for sale from a local boutique, and other shops will be there for you to browse their goods. From handmade ceramics, to authentic and rare pieces of jewelry, you can get your hands on some super stylishes pieces you can't find anywhere else. There are a few other Greek festivals in Houston, but this is the original. The food alone is worth the piece of admision.
