It is undeniable to most Texans that rodeo season in Houston is one of the most popular and magical times of the year. All of the concerts, events, rides, and most importantly, the food, help make March the best month of the year! The food vendors for the rodeo have recently been announced, so we put together a list of the must-try carnival foods at the Houston Rodeo, with everything from classic favorites to insane one-of-a-kind creations!
This is in no way a complete list as the Rodeo has tons of vendors this year but we think these eight are all some of the wildest.
Decked Out Funnel Cakes
Address: Various vendors like McKinney Funnel Cake and Dutchmen's Funnel Cake
Why You Need To Go: These classic carnival treats are always a must-have and there are a ton of options at the Rodeo. You can keep it simple with the classic cake or you can add yummy toppings like heapings of whipped cream and strawberries.
Address: Candy Factory
Why You Need To Go: These neon unicorn drinks that are topped with a cloud of cotton candy are the sweetest and most colorful find at the Rodeo. However, if you want something a little less sweet, they also have tajin covered apples. Yum!
Flamin Hot Cheeto Corn Dog
Address: Biggy's II
Why You Need To Go: It's a corn dog smothered in nacho cheese and coated in Flamin Hot Cheetos, what more reason do you need? Everything's better when covered in Hot Cheetos.
Flamin Hot Cheeto Fries
Address: Biggy's II
Why You Need To Go: This massive snack can be found at the same vendor as the previous Cheeto corn dog. So if you get both does that mean you have a whole Hot Cheeto covered meal?
Address: Fried A Fair, Fried A Fair II, Sweet Cheeks, and more.
Why You Need To Go: Fried Oreos are up there with Funnel Cakes as a quintessential must-have anytime you're at a carnival. Don't forget to get some fried cheesecake or Snickers when you pick these delicious treat up!
Giant Turkey Leg
Address: Big Bubba's Bad BBQ, Biggy's II, Big Texas BBQ, Texas Steak Out Grill, and more.
Why You Need To Go: These bad boys are everywhere at the Rodeo and are a good protein-load in between all the deep-fried desserts. Turkey legs are extremely popular in Houston, and we'd expect nothing less at the Rodeo.
Twisted Potato On A Stick
Address: Tater Twister
Why You Need To Go: It's a cool and easy-to-eat alternative to chips or fries. Like the turkey stick helps for protein, you've got to get some good carbs in too to help fuel you through the Rodeo!
Fruity Pebbles Shrimp On A Stick
Address: Get Fried
Why You Need To Go: This wild creation sounds so crazy that it just might work? I mean we'll definitely try it! It was a hit at its debut last year and we're glad to see that the vendors who first brought the creation to the Houston Rodeo are going to be back this year.
