Yeah, Houston has some killer taco trucks and all. But in our totally-valid Tex-Mex obsession, we are often blinded to a different kind of cuisine-on-wheels that we're totally missing out on — The Waffle Bus.
And this beloved bus isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They're opening a permanent location in the Heights (it'll still be called Waffle Bus, don't worry). And they announced via Insta that they hope to open within a month — fingers crossed!
The Waffle Bus serves all things waffle (the breakfast kind and the fry kind.) They have everything from chicken and waffles to Chicken Thunder Fries (and yes, that's exactly what you think it is — totally loaded waffle fries.)
If that doesn't impress you, what's wrong with you? But here are some of the other goodies they offer on their menu that should do the trick:
- Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle
- Waffle Burger
- Cheeseburger Fryders (that's four mini cheeseburgers with waffle fry buns)
- Chicken Fryders (that's the same thing but with chicken)
- Nutella & Banana Waffle
- Chicken Thunder Fries
- Thunder Fries (without the chicken)
- Strawberry Irish Cream Creme Brulee Waffle
- Seasoned Waffle Fries (for the simple waffle fry lovers.)
Oh, and they also have a s'mores waffle, and I'm kinda mad I didn't think of that first.
Their famous concoctions have been featured on The Food Network, the Cooking Channel, Insider, and more. So, basically, that means you have to try it out now. I don't make the rules.
If you like that, be sure to check out this donut and chicken hotspot in the Heights too.
