San Antonio Is Having A FREE Elote Festival For The First Time Ever This March
Let's get corny.
One of the best places in Texas to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine is, without a doubt, San Antonio. If you love corn and especially the roasted corn on the cob, you will soon be able to enjoy it in the most varied and delicious ways. A massive & free elote festival is taking over San Antonio this March, and it is the first of its kind to take place in the city.
This festival will be happening in Copernicus Park, San Antonio, on March 28, and you don't have to spend a penny for admission. That means you can save all your wallet contents for the delicious food.
Several vendors will be located at the park waiting for you to try their delicious creations. Corn can be an incredible canvas on which it is possible to "paint" with an exquisite variety of toppings.
At the fest, you'll find toppings ranging from the traditional mayonnaise, cheese, and chili, to specialized sauces and crushed Takis or Doritos.
Organizers said in exclusivity to Narcity that the event will be having the traditional roasted corn on a stick, but also corn in a cup, known in Spanish as esquites.
Esquites is traditionally served in a cup with mayo, grounded cheese, a sprinkle of piquín powder, and lime juice. It's a classic street food option in Mexico.
At the fest, you'll find this treat in several flavor combinations. They will also be serving other Mexican tasty food options, including traditional fruit cups served with chili powder.
Copernicus Park will be filled with food vendors next March 28, so you'll have plenty of options to choose from.
The SA Roasted Corn Festival will be happening from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and besides the great food and the fun, you will also have an opportunity to shop because several boutiques and stores will be set up at the fest.
If you love Mexican food, you don't have to travel far to find authentic street food. You will find all the traditional flavors of Mexican corn on the cob right here in San Antonio.
We're sure this is something you don't want to miss!
