The Prohibition-era might be long gone, but there's something about bars hidden behind unsuspecting doors in dark alleys that catches our attention. Just when we thought that the trend might be fading away, we've found a speakeasy in Seattle that'll knock your socks off.
The blue-black door in Capitol Hill might look like the front entrance to your friend's house. But if you look closer a brass plaque will read, "Knee High Stocking Company."
There's even a tiny doorbell that has "visitors" stamped on it that'll you be itching to ring. But even if you do, it'll only open if you have a reservation, which can be made here through text message (only).
According to the establishment's photos, American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain was here (and he rang the bell too).
Once inside, the plush interiors will make you feel like you're in The Great Gatsby and will make you want to snap hundreds of photos, just remember to not use flash, because that's the rule here.
You can order drinks from a pre-crafted menu that'll typically cost you $9 to $13. Bartenders will even concoct a drink to suit your tastes! Just don't ask for anything with Redbull in it, you'll get frowned at.
You'll want to make time on a weeknight though because, during their happy hours between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., you can score boozy drinks for a good price.
The fare here has a Filipino influence. You can expect $7 to $19 plates of tapa sliders, varieties of fried lumpia rolls or ginger and soy chicken drummies that'll have you smacking your lips.
You can book the bar just for yourself and for a party too.
Since it's pretty cozy, it tends to get filled up, so we recommend you snag a reservation for you and your pals ASAP.
