If you need to show someone your city, sometimes the best way to do that is through doing those super cliche, touristy things. We've put together a list of places you should definitely visit while in Edmonton. Check them out, you might just fall in love with your city all over again.
1. High Level Streetcar // Gateway Boulevard
For just $6, you can hop on the Edmonton High Level Streetcar, the largest fleet of heritage electric streetcars in Western Canada. Live music shows also occasionally take place on the street cars, for just $30. Information about shows can be found by signing up for the organization's mailing list.
2. River Valley Adventure Co. // 9735 Grierson Hill
For just $60, you can partake in the Edmonton Beginner Segway Adventure. River Valley Adventure Co. also offers cycling, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, and rafting adventures, so there's something for everyone to enjoy.
3. World Waterpark // 8882 170 Street
Ever wanted to visit the world's largest indoor wave pool? World Waterpark boasts over 21 waterslides. You can also check out the SkyFlyer Zipline, or take surf lessons on Saturday mornings.
4. Fort Edmonton Park // 7000 143 Street
If you're interested in the historical side of things, you'll definitely want to tour Fort Edmonton. Admission is just over $25, and provides you access to streetcar, wagon, and pony rides, as well as Capitol Theatre, and Ernest Brown Photography.
5. West Edmonton Mall // 8882 170 Street
You can't go to Edmonton and not visit West Ed. Spend the day shopping at one of over 800 stores, skate around the Mayfield Toyota Ice Palace, or watch a Marine Life show.
6. Alberta Legislature Building // 10800 97 Ave
So much beautiful scenery, you'll definitely get an Insta-worthy snap. Open 362 days a year, the Legislature offers FREE and super informative tours.
7. Whyte Avenue // 82 Avenue
Basically the heart and soul of Edmonton. There's so much to do, from food and drinks, to entertainment, to shopping. Participate in the Whyte Ave Art Walk, or support local businesses, selling all sorts of products.
8. Muttart Conservatory // 9626 96A Street
Incredible architecture and entertainment. Three of the Conservatory's pyramids host year round displays, and the fourth features unique, creative displays that are changed up to eight times a year.
9. TELUS World of Science // 11211 142 Street
You're never too old to learn something new. Different theme nights and exhibitions means you'll have a reason to come back. A current popular featured exhibition is the Science Behind Pixar, perfect for all Disney fans.
10. Galaxyland // 2784-8882 170 Street
The world's largest indoor amusement park. Over 27 rides and attractions, designed for people of all ages, are sure to keep you busy all day. Just $45 gets you an all day ride pass.
11. University of Alberta Botanic Gardens // 51227 AB-60, Parkland County
Just 15 minutes outside of Edmonton, you can explore 240 acres of beautiful gardens. Every Thursday, the gardens host a unique themed date night from 6 p.m. until dusk. Different photography and cultural events are also held at the gardens.
12. Valley Zoo // 13315 Buena Vista Road & 87th Avenue
Another zoo to cross off your bucket list. Spend the day checking out over 300 species of animals, or partake in unique seasonal activities.
