5 Bucket List Things You Must See At Nuit Blanche 2018 In Edmonton This Weekend

If you're looking for something to do this weekend or you want to go to a cool event, this article has your answer. Nuit Blanche is coming back to Edmonton this Saturday, and we could not be more excited! The event first started in Paris back in 2002 and has since grown to other cities across the world.

The first ever Nuit Blanche in Edmonton took place three years ago in 2015 and was a huge success. The event had over 50,000 attendees and has returned back every year since.
If you've never been before, here's what Nuit Blanche is all about. It is an all-night contemporary art event that happens right in downtown Edmonton. In the past, over 30 artworks were showcased to tens of thousands of attendees.
Nuit Blanche is also free! Meaning you can save some money this weekend and see some awesome art – a win-win situation. There have been some seriously cool exhibitions in the past. The event will take place in other cities in Canada as well, namely Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Halifax and Ottawa.
According to the organizers of Nuit Blanche, the aim of the event in Edmonton is about "building a better city, about situating contemporary art practices by visionary designers, artists, architects, and creatives and connecting these works with urban spaces and mixing in the passion and enthusiasm of Edmontonians."

CLOUD presented by Primavera Plaza & Partners
This beautiful art piece will have you on cloud nine. It was created by artists Caitlind r.c. Brown and Wayne Garrett and made from 6000 incandescent light bulbs. It was made with the intention of participation from viewers; when you stand under the raincloud and pull its chains, this will cause lightning to flicker on the surface of the piece.

Passage presented by Enbridge Centre
This aesthetic and unique light tunnel is sure to make an impression on your Insta feed. This interactive art piece created by Serge Maheu, Félix Ménard & Illuminart is intended to immerse the viewer into an emotional journey through sound and light. The art installation has 20 circles of light and a sound system. When people to walk through, the tunnel will activate light animations and sounds.

Columbia Avenue Pop-Up & Street Party
There will be a free pop-up party with food trucks, music, dance workshops, interactive art, bike tours, and more! This university parking lot will be transformed into a colourful public space for Nuit Blanche.

Entre Les Rangs at The Light Gardens at Epcor Tower
This aesthetic sensory experience will take you through an urban field. Entre Les Rangs consists of thousands of movable white stems that are topped with reflectors and is intended to be a tribute to wheat fields. The piece is flexible and movable, meaning it changes based on its environment – factors such as wind, light and human interaction.

BLOCKOUT: City Skies
The SNAP Gallery will be participating in Nuit Blanche, hosting several activities and even a Night Market. BLOCKOUT: City Skies will feature artistis creating with the theme “City Skies” to celebrate the urban environment.
