A cult-favourite Beverly Hills pizza joint, California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) is finally setting up shop in Canada. On Wednesday, February 5, California Pizza Kitchen, also known as CPK, announced that Edmonton is set to be its first Canadian location. The California Pizza Kitchen Edmonton location will open its doors within the next few months in partnership with local food entrepreneur Samira Shariff.
Four more locations across Alberta are to be built over the next eight years, as reported by Financial Post.
On top of its Alberta locations, the chain also intends to pop up in other Canadian metropolises such as Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.
So far, CPK has more than 240 locations across 10 countries and territories, so it is time they decided to offer their culinary creations to their friends up here in Canada.
Edmontonians are no strangers to dining at some wonderful pizza spots across town, so CPK might have tapped into the perfect market.
In recent years, Edmonton has seen quite a few of its favourite food joints shut their doors, including the likes of Red Robin and a handful of Tony Roma outlets, as noted by CTV News.
So this might be what the city needs to get its culinary obsessions back on the menu.
California Pizza Kitchen is known for its unique dishes that are made with local, fresh ingredients and cooked in an open kitchen right in front of all the guests.
Their cauliflower crust, which was introduced in their restaurants in 2018, is one of their most popular dishes.
As a low-carb, gluten-free alternative to hand-tossed pizza dough, it's the perfect way to lighten up any pizza order.
Other delicious items on their menu include the wild mushroom pizza, quinoa and arugula salad, and numerous power bowls to help you keep your nutrients up.
As it so happens, there are quite a few celebrities swooning over their special cauliflower crust.
Here, Bachelor star Lauren Bushnell Lane is seen enjoying her cauliflower crust pizza.
Naheed Shariff, the CEO of CPK’s Alberta outlets, expressed his excitement for CPK’s foray into Alberta.
He explained in a press release that, “We think CPK’s creative California vibe and innovative menu will resonate with Albertans and offer something completely new in the market.”
So you know where to be in the next few months.
If there’s one thing Edmontonians need, it’s a little slice of that California sunshine to warm us up.
