Embracing Your Acne Is Going To Be 2018's Biggest Beauty Trend

Skin, whether we're aware of it or not, has a huge effect on our confidence. Of course, if you're one of the lucky human beings blessed with amazing skin, you probably don't notice it as much.

But while beauty gurus are always showing us their fave skincare products and companies are constantly selling us their full-coverage everything, it's easy for those of us who don't have "perfect" skin to fall into the trap that you have to have flawless skin to be beautiful.

But the truth is, most of us don't have "perfect" skin.

That being said, it's 2018 now, and things are different. If you weren't already aware, this year is going to be a huge year for all of us ladies and gentlemen with cystic acne, or any form of acne for that matter. From the moment Kendall Jenner clapped back at all the haters for shaming her for walking down the red carpet of the Golden Globes with acne, fans everywhere have been encouraged by her words.

never let that shit stop you! …

Ok but @KendallJenner showing up and strutting her acne while looking like a gorgeous star is what every girl needs to understand …

But Kendall's not the only one to prove that it's okay to have acne. Seventeen-year-old Instagram figure, Hailey Wait (a.k.a. @pigss), has been encouraging her 126K followers that you don't have to have perfect skin to be beautiful by showing off her natural foundation-free face even before Kendall's "acne scandal".

With one powerful selfie at a time, Hailey is shedding light on the reality of acne and showing the internet that we should be celebrating and embracing our natural selves.

Reminder that acne doesn’t make you ugly a heart full of hate does.

Hailey explained to Teen Vogue that her acne was actually painful. She continued, "Honestly, as soon as I cut foundation out of my makeup routine and stopped giving a damn what people thought of my appearance and once I started caring more about my overall happiness and well-being, it [my skin] started to improve drastically."

And now many other Instagrammers are following suit, breaking beauty taboos one natural-faced selfie post at a time.

So in 2018, skip the foundation, skip the concealer, and let yourself shine with a naturally fresh face.
