Get set to hop aboard a magical train ride this holiday season. The classic novel and film, The Polar Express, tells the story of a boy taking a journey to The North Pole on Christmas Eve. You can jump straight into that tale this holiday season with Toronto's Polar Express, which will be chugging through the city until December 22. This annual event is hosted by the York-Durham Heritage Railway. It departs from Uxbridge Station for a one-hour journey to the North Pole and back, so you won't have to worry about being late for Christmas Eve. Snuggle up with your boo and enjoy the ride. Then, once you arrive at your destination, Santa and his helpers will be on hand to give the first gift of the Christmas season. Rides run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until Monday, December 16. After that date, there will be daily trips through Sunday, December 22. While The Polar Express book and 2004 blockbuster movie starring Tom Hanks is mostly aimed at kids, you can enjoy this magical trip with someone special this Christmas. It helps to be young at heart, though. The trip will be a walk down memory lane for riders as they relax to music from the film's soundtrack, supported by singers and dancers decked out in costume.
