The secret speakeasy bar will make you feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. Modelled after a combination between the 1920’s American Prohibition era and the Lost Generation in Paris’, Betty Lou’s Library is truly something else.
When you step inside you'll find an intimate space with a soft glow from vintage chandeliers. You'll sit on antique velvet chairs surrounded by relics from another time.
They serve up masterfully made renditions of classic cocktails and small plates of locally sourced food.
Before you head down to Betty Lou’s, you should be aware of the “house rules.” You must use a phone and a password to enter the bar.
When you book a reservation, you’ll be given a password - this is what you’ll say when you pick up the phone. They do try to accommodate some walk-ins, but it's way cooler to show up with a password, anyway.
The small library-style bar only allows seated guests, so you’ll never have to deal with it getting too busy or crowded. No talking on the phone is permitted in the library, though you’re more than welcome to text.
On top of the general rules, cocktail attire is not required but certainly encouraged. “Women always know how to look fabulous. Men, please check your hats, hoodies, jerseys etc.,” says the bar’s website.
Also, you don’t need to worry about being hit on by stagers at this classy joint. “Please do not approach other guests unless invited…we’re not that kind of place,” says the house rules.
