A massive warehouse space in Calgary was recently converted into a giant taco shop with two food trucks and an entire mini golf course inside. If this isn't date-night goals, we don't know what is! The new spot in Calgary, Taiko Canteen, opened its doors on Thursday, Aug. 1 and people have been loving their $5 tacos and the unique golf course. Taiko Canteen started off as a food truck but now has turned into a self-proclaimed "un-restaurant" in East Calgary. Taiko Canteen’s menu feature Zilfords Friend Chicken, local beers, wines and rotating taps. There’s also a food market in the giant space, and nine holes to play Lucky Putt mini golf with your friends. Taiko Canteen started its journey as a taco food truck four years ago with the mission to offer something unique in Calgary. They’ve accomplished this mission with their nine-hole Lucky Putt mini-golf course. Their clever golf course actually spells out “Get Lucky,” which was designed by the Taiko team. A game costs $9 per person to play and they offer deals when you have more friends to enjoy the games with. A foursome deal costs around $36. If you're looking for a cheap group date this weekend, you've found the perfect spot! There are also some Taiko “Bols” with superfood ingredients like kale and sides of Corkscrew Mac and Cheese and Baby Kale Salad. Another addition to the menu is the Zilford’s fried Chicken with its wide array of spice options. The baos were light and fluffy; this time I found the pork belly a little dry and my friend said the tofu wasn’t the crispy kind.
