The food and art scenes in Alberta are growing and one of the province's restaurants has incorporated both of these elements into one amazing eatery. Sidewalk Citizen in Calgary is an adorable restaurant that is totally designed from nature's inspiration. From its beehive-style ceiling to its hanging pottery, this place will make you feel like you’re one with nature. Plus, their food is everything. Calgary has some pretty epic cafes and restaurants. While Sidewalk Citizen is not new to the city, this new restaurant addition is. The inside of the restaurant is like a dream come true and walking into it feels like you’re walking into the magical land of FernGully. The architecture of the building was designed with a specific purpose in mind as it is meant to emulate nature. Right when you walk in you will be completely awe-struck by the ceiling. According to an email sent to Narcity, the ceiling is meant to mimic the designs of a beehive. Not only is it incredibly high, making you feel like you're outside, but the criss-cross design looks just like a honeycomb. This is Studio North’s first commercial project, which lives in Central Memorial Park - Calgary’s oldest park and a nationally designated historic site. We are so proud of our team for making this project a reality. From concept, fabrication, permitting, and construction, our team made it happen! A big thanks to our clients @sidewalkcitizen who gave us a shot and allowed us to stretch our imaginations to create something beautiful. Be sure to go for a visit, the food is as amazing as the space! . . 📸 by @haptic_patina #restaurant #designbuild #design #solarium #wood #digitalfabrication #cnc #woodwork #woodstructure #sun #sunroom #calgary #yyc #design #architecture #isrealicuisine A post shared by Studio North (@studio_north) on Nov 1, 2019 at 9:15pm PDT The entire facility was inspired by the Central Memorial Park Library which is the oldest library in all of Alberta. Since this library is nestled right in the middle of a park filled with vegetation, trees, flowers, and bees, the owners wanted to pay homage to all its surroundings. The entirety of the inside of the shop was inspired by gardens. Between the silver tile meant to emulate birdbaths and the hanging pots, you can’t help but feel total Secret Garden vibes. Their gorgeous open-concept interior is obviously something to write home about, but their food is just as good. Whether you are in the mood for brunch or dinner, they have it all. Not to mention some of the best pastries in Calgary. View this post on Instagram Woke up at 7 am and got all my errands done by 1030 🥰 this literally NEVER HAPPENS (Seriously). Anyways, when I got home, I made this easy brunch-style meal with all the fresh ingredients I picked up from @blushlane & @sunnysidenaturalmarket :: :: Fresh sourdough toasted w/ a fried egg + avocado w/ some olive oil and seasoning. On the other toast, I made a quick bruschetta style mix- chopped red onion, red pepper, tomatoes, avocado, basil and garlic. I mixed it up with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, s&p and honey. DELISH. One of my favourite go-to snacks is this bruschetta toast. So fresh tasting 🤤🍅 A post shared by Holistic Health & Travel 🌎 (@glowingholistichealth) on Dec 3, 2019 at 12:57pm PST If you're hungry, we strongly recommend trying literally any one of their pitas. The ingredients are super fresh and they taste even better than they sound. If anything, it’s the perfect place to get your next Instagram pic.
