This year, Canada was hit hard with a plant-based craze. From meatballs to eggs, fast-food chains across the country released all sorts of unique, meat-less options for customers to enjoy as an alternative to traditional animal products. Now, a major player in the food industry has decided to join the plant-based party! Ontario McDonald's Beyond Meat burgers will be hitting select stores this September, and it's about time!\nMcDonald's will be testing out a new plant-based burger in 28 Southwestern Ontario venues. The new food item will be available for a 12-week period, as McDonald's sees how well it does with Canadian customers.\nThis will be the very first time that McDonald's has offered a Beyond Meat burger and will be following in the footsteps of other big chains such as Tim Hortons and A&W. The burger will be launched on September 30.\nThe burger, named the P.L.T. (Plant, Lettuce, Tomato), contains a plant-based patty created exclusively by McDonald's to deliver customers the same, classic flavours the restaurant is known for.\nThe plant-filled patty will be sandwiched between a warm, sesame bun and will be dressed with tomato, pickles, lettuce, onions, ketchup, mayo-style sauce, mustard, and processed cheese.
