11 Ottawa Burger Spots You Must Put On Your Food Bucket List ASAP
If you want a burger, eat a burger.
Who doesn't love a good burger? Whether you're vegetarian, vegetarian or a meat lover, any form of a burger is a classic comfort food. You can put anything on it and it's guaranteed to taste good. Have you ever put peanut butter on your hamburger? Try it, you won't regret it.
No matter what your taste buds crave, you're bound to find a burger at one of these spots that will make your mouth water. If you're a plain Jane or a risk taker, you'll love these options. So here are 11 burger spots you need to put on your bucket list if you're a meat lover–but they also have vegetarian options as well! So don't you worry.
1. Burgers n' Fries Forever // 329 Bank Street
Burgers n' Fries Forever sources their beef from local farmers in Ottawa. Their burgers are an upgraded version of a homemade burger, which I think is what we all strive for. They have a large AF menu but they also have a #BOW (burger of the week) or a BYOB (build your own burger) option as well. You can choose from a beef, chicken or falafel patty and go from there! No matter what kind of eater you are, you'll find every option that you like here.
2. Bite Burger House // 108 Murray Street
Bite Burger House is another restaurant that sources their meat from local farmers, as well as grind the meat in house daily. Their bread is sourced from local bakeries too, so you know they're a trustworthy restaurant. Their list of burger options goes on for what seems like forever, but they're not your normal options. They have tofu burgers if you're not a meat eater, and their combinations sound crazy but also delicious. Any restaurant that serves mac & cheese on a burger, count me in.
3. Vera's Burger Shack // 1821 Robertson Road
Vera's Burger Shack has so many amazing patty choices, you won't know where to begin. With 7 different patty options, daily specials for every day of the week and a hall of fame menu, good luck deciding! They mean business when it comes to making burgers, and they don't leave any idea behind either. If you love spice, they have plenty of options that will satisfy your hot self.
4. Chez Lucien // 137 Murray Street
Chez Lucien calls their burgers 'gourmet' and I definitely agree. They don't have too many burger options, but the ones that they do carry are delicious AF. They have a burger that includes pear, sautéed onions and brie cheese. Yum. They also carry a tofu burger for all of you who don't eat meat, and it sounds absolutely delicious. Who says you have to eat meat to get a yummy burger?
5. South St. Burger // 900 Exhibition Way
South St. Burger prides themselves on creating burgers that have no additives or presevatives, which is amazing. They have their 'signature' burgers, which are delicious spinoffs of normal and plain burgers. Of course, you are able to get a veggie burger or a chicken burger and they offer over 30 toppings to throw on whatever burger you like. You can also add a gluten-free bun or an extra patty to your burger. Sounds like a dream!
6. Hintonburger // 1096 Wellington Street West
Hintonburger is a staple in the Ottawa burger business. It's an old school diner themed restaurant that has amazing and straight to the point burgers. They don't really do any fancy burgers, but that's completely okay, because they've mastered the 'less is more' thing pretty well. You can either do a beef or chicken patty, and if you're feeling crazy, you can add bacon to it as well. These burgers speak for themselves, though.
7. Baja Burger Shack // 100 Greenview Avenue
Baja Burger Shack is an outdoor burger shop in Britannia Beach. Although it's not open all year round, it's still absolutely worth mentioning. They have limited burger options, but the ones they do have are so delicious. They carry the basic options but you'll find that they're like a gourmet homemade option. If you're ever at Britannia Beach when it's open, I highly recommend ditching your diet for one of their burgers.
8. OCCO Kitchen // 3018 St Joseph Boulevard
Alright, let's skip to the chase and just say you must try the candied bacon cheeseburger. You don't know what dreams are made of until you've tried this unique and amazing cheeseburger. They have other delicious options as well, and offer a black bean burger which sounds to die for. If you're looking for a place that sells different burgers, you've found it. OCCO Kitchen isn't afraid of any combination, and has a burger that includes peach mayo. Must. Try. Now.
9. Burgers & Shakes // Multiple Locations
Burgers & Shakes is your ultimate diner food. That's a good thing, by the way. Their options are the basics, but sometimes that's all you want. They know exactly what they're doing, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. To get the real diner experience, I recommend trying one of their milkshakes as well. They have every flavour you can think of and honestly, what's a burger without a shake? I'll have a cotton candy milkshake, please.
10. The King Eddy // 45 Clarence Street
The King Eddy is known for it's burgers and fried chicken. But we're not talking about fried chicken today (maybe another day). They have something called The King Eddy burger, which includes 2 patties, Canadian cheddar and whatever toppings you'd like. Any burger that you get to customize to your liking is a great burger to me. They're open 24/7, so you can experience the King Eddy burger or their other burger options at any time of the day. I think that's a win for all of us.
11. Le Foubrac // 47 Boulevard Montclair
A hidden burger joint up in Gatineau, this place knows what's up. Le Foubrac has options that you'd expect at a burger joint, but they also have options that are crazy unique. They offer a duck burger, a soy teriyaki burger and a pinto bean burger–all of which sound crazy but also very intriguing. If you're looking to get out of the city (sort of) and you don't know where to go, this is a safe and delicious option. The burgers are super affordable as well, but don't let that scare you. They're worth way more!
