Ottawa has been very lucky this summer with new places. Every few weeks we are all lucky to welcome a new restaurant or bar in our city. From a pasta dedicated restaurant to a patio with waterfall views to a new Southern BBQ restaurant, we are all very lucky! Well it's time to try something new at this new taco restaurant in the city.
Toro Taqueria opened in May and we are welcoming it with open arms. The new spot loves Latin inspired flavours shoved into warm corn tortillas. Originally from Honduras, the owner of Toro Taqueria aspires to bring the flavours of her childhood and Latina background to everyone in Ottawa. The restaurant serves up so many different tacos as well as these crazy Taco Boxed that are sure to fill you up!
The tacos at Toro Taqueria are Guisados, which are homestyle, slow braised meats and vegetables served the casual Mexican street style. The Tacos are made with small, soft, white corn tortillas that are cooked, then steamed until soft and topped simply with house pickled red onion, white onion, cilantro and lime. Fresh ingredients are used to make the filings. The guacamole and salsa in the tacos are made from scratch daily with authentic ingredients. The food served at this new restaurant is fresh-made to order and always delicious!
The taco box comes with 10 tacos and sides of lime, guacamole, and tomatoes. It is perfect for a group of 3 to 5 people! The box costs $45 which sounds pricey on it's own, but if you're sharing with people it's only about $9 to $15 each! This taco box is totally worth it.
