Boozy foods seem to be all the rage nowadays. Not only is it a unique way to enjoy your favourite alcoholic beverages, it's also convenient. There's no need to fill your stomach before drinking since what you're eating is the drink!

If you like gin and tonics, you'll definitely enjoy these gin and tonic cupcakes. The best part? They're really easy to make! Take a look for yourself:



  • 175 g unsalted butter (softened)
  • 175 g golden caster sugar
  • 175 g self-raising flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 tbsp tonic water 
  • 2 tbsp gin 


  • 250g unsalted, softened butter
  • 500g icing sugar
  • Juice of one lime
  • 4tbsp gin


  • Zest of one lime
  • 1 half lime slices


  1. Pre-heat oven to 340°F and line a cupcake moulds with cupcake wrappers
  2. Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat together until creamy consistency
  3. Whisk in one egg at a time and fully incorporate 
  4. Sift in the flour and fold in (do not over-stir) 
  5. Stir in the tonic water
  6. Fill cupcake moulds up to 2/3 full with the mixture
  7. Bake for approximately 20 mins until they are golden (check with a skewer)
  8. Remove from moulds and place on cooling rack
  9. While they are still hot, pierce each one with a skewer half a dozen times and brush the surface with gin
  10. Make the icing by whisking the butter while adding icing sugar
  11. Squeeze lime juice into the icing and add gin. Whip until light and fluffy
  12. Pipe icing onto the cakes and add a slice of lime and some lime zest to decorate
