If you've been mourning the loss of summer fairs, then there is good news on the way. While you won't be able to hop on the rides, you can still enjoy some outrageous treats at this new pop-up market. With unusual ice cream flavours, deep-fried sweet treats, and more, you'll be transported to your favourite summer fair with every bite. Toronto's El Mercado market lets you indulge in some crazy dishes while distancing.

While this summer is going to be a little different when it comes to large attractions like fairs, delicious treats are never cancelled.

Toronto is about to get its first "outdoor, food pop-up carry out" series.

The market, called El Mercado, is taking over the patio of Barrio and plans to open this weekend.

Local food vendors have gathered to create a fun food experience guests can enjoy while staying safe.

The website states that the market is, "built for an age of social distance, yet promoting a fun experience with safety being the top priority."

You can find all sorts of out-of-this-world treats that will whisk you away to a sunny day at the fair.

Some of the craziest menu items include pickle soft-serve, fishhead tacos, and even pickle lemonade.

If you're feeling tropical, you can sip an all-natural smoothie from the inside of a real fruit.

You can also pick up some less outrageous goods, such as fresh produce, guac and chips, pineapple whip floats, and even beer.

All guests entering the market are required to wear a mask. Masks will be available to purchase at the gate for $2 each.

There will be hand sanitization stations scattered throughout the market, and only five guests at a time will be allowed in, moving in one direction.

To limit interaction, you can fill your bag up with food from all the stands and pay for everything at once before exiting.

El Mercado is officially opening May 23. The market's hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It's recommended that you make a reservation before coming to avoid lining up.
