I scream, you scream, or ice cream? This month in Vancouver, you can have it all! Rain or Shine Ice Cream is officially joining the #Pintforapint campaign to promote life-saving donations. This January only, anyone can stop by one of their locations and trade in their good deed for a pint of delicious ice cream.

“I love ice cream and I give blood regularly already so I thought this was so cool,” Alexi White said to Narcity at Rain or Shine’s UBC location. The #pintforpint social media campaign was started to drive up numbers of blood donors. Participating companies promise a pint of free goodies, whether it be beer or ice cream, for every pint of blood donated.

This is Rain or Shine’s fourth year being a part of the campaign, which started when the owners’ family friend was diagnosed with leukemia. Through the campaign, they hope to inspire first-time donors to take the leap, according to their website.

According to the Red Cross, hospitals are always hungry for O negative blood, which is compatible with transfusions for any blood type.

To claim your own ice cream, drop by any Rain or Shine location and request a card (while supplies last). Then, visit the Oak Street Clinic and donate.

After you’re finished, they will stamp your card which you can redeem on January 31 at the same store you picked it up from for a free pint of ice cream.

Rain or Shine has locations on Cambie, Kits, or UBC. The Oak Street Clinic is located at 4750 Oak Street. A pint of ice cream typically costs $10 at Rain or Shine.

They have flavours like coconut salted fudge, honey lavender, and even blueberry balsamic. So what will it be? Good deeds or good desserts?
