Action! Drake has dived head first into the film industry over the past year and now he’s adding a new project to the list. It was just announced that the Canadian artist will act as producer and director on the new Quibi series 48 Laws of Power.

The series, based on the 1998 book by Robert Greene, outlines the strategy of achieving power in all walks of life. Using historical events around life, business, and love, the non-fiction novel supplies people with a pocketbook on how to reach and maintain success.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the novel has been referenced multiple times in the hip-hop world, including in Drake’s own music.

As of right now, the 6ix god is credited as an executive producer and is set to direct an episode of the series.

Rapper Future is also tied to the project and says Quibi is giving them the opportunity to provide a dynamic story through “bite-sized chapters.”

Author Greene spoke to The Hollywood Reporter explaining how he always felt his book would make a good series. However, it wasn’t until the idea was pitched to him by Drake and Future that he felt their ”unique cinematic approach” could be carried out.

This is one of Drake’s many film projects. Back in 2019 Drake rolled out as a producer on the HBO series Euphoria and recently rebooted the series Top Boy for Netflix.

There has yet to be a release date for 48 Laws of Power though Quibi is set to launch across North America on April 6.

The platform will include a library of 50 shows including Liam Hemsworth’s Most Dangerous Game and Robbie Amell’s Upload.

A subscription for the platform starts at $4.99 a month for streaming with ads and $7.99 for a subscription without.

There’s been no news on when production will begin. However, Drake is spending some time in his Ontario mansion for now and sharing his not so relatable social-distancing methods.
