More Chris Hemsworth might be coming your way. Extraction on Netflix premiered just two weeks ago and is already on track to become one of the biggest Netflix originals ever. Due to that success, the film has just landed itself a confirmed sequel. Starring Hemsworth as mercenary Tyler Rake, the movie follows his journey through the dangerous underworld of Bangladesh when he is recruited by a crime lord to find a kidnapped child. Despite the film's recent release, scriptwriter Joe Russo has confirmed with Deadline that he’s already cooking up a script for the next movie, “The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2, and we are in the formative stages of what the story can be.” Although fans were left with an uncertain ending, Russo isn’t revealing anything about the storyline right now, “We’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience.” View this post on Instagram I’ll be going LIVE with our Extraction director @thesamhargrave (aka the maniac with the camera) tomorrow on @netflixfilm to answer all your questions and chat about the movie. According to the writer, contracts will only be made up for the rest of the cast and crew once the script is complete and approved by Netflix. In a tweet, the platform projected that by the end of the month 90 million households will have tuned into the action movie. That’s millions more than what was projected for movies like Sandra Bullock’s Bird Box and Adam Sandler’s Murder Mystery. Hemsworth himself was also extremely appreciative of all the support. He took the time to thank fans for making it the “number one movie on the planet right now.” View this post on Instagram 🙏🙏🙏 EXTRACTION @thesamhargrave @therussobrothers @netflix @netflixfilm A post shared by Chris Hemsworth (@chrishemsworth) on May 2, 2020 at 4:14pm PDT Extraction is currently streaming on Netflix.
