“Jurassic World 3” Was Just Spotted Filming In A Tiny BC City (PHOTOS)
The stars are in town!
Watch out for the dinosaurs! Jurassic World 3 filming has officially begun and the first stop is BC. Some keen-eyed fans have even taken photos and videos of production in the small city of Merritt.
The film is being released under the official title Jurassic World: Dominion. It stars Chris Pratt who landed on Canadian soil earlier this week. He shared by the "beautiful" scenery in Kamloops.
Before he arrived, production reportedly began. Local residents shared photos of advisory signs for closed paths and trails.
Now, anoter part of beautiful BC is being used for filming. Downtown Merritt is located an hour south of Kamloops, so it's possible that's where the stars have moved to.
Radio NL reported earlier this week that filming in Merritt was set to begin on February 25 and would go for "nearly two weeks".
On February 26, the Twitter account Reel News Hawaii caught a few snaps of production crew setting up.
In the first tweet, they shared, "Film crews are in the valley shooting Jurassic World 3 ‘Dominion’. They’ve been filming at Big Box Canyon, and at the old Ardew yard. They’re also ‘setting’ up at Ponderosa Sports, across the street from the Coldwater Hotel, for the downtown segments."
That same day, they shared four photos with the caption, "Jurassic World: Dominion prep happening at the Coldwater Hotel in Downtown Merritt."
According to the official website, the Coldwater Hotel was established in 1908. It is "Merritt's most historical building" and got its name "after the river that flows past Merritt and through the Coquihalla Pass."
Located on 1901 Voght St., the building is topped by a copper dome and features fifty rooms with seven-foot balconies spanning on three stories.
The website also notes that you can hang out at their pub or restaurant, or even pick up some drinks at the wine and beer store.
Yesterday, the same Twitter account shared that it "Looks like a road closure is scheduled at the Coldwater Hotel in Merritt" as production begins.
They also posted a video from Snapchat of the road closure and filming underway.
Pratt's co-star in the Jurassic World films is Bryce Dallas Howard who will be returning for the newest one.
The original trio from the original Jurassic Park movies will also be in the sixth one. That includes Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill as Alan Grant, and Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm.
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to hit theatres on June 11, 2021.
