Over the years, Netflix has released original content from almost every genre you can think of. Their most recent project is a collaboration with a Canadian comedian, and from the looks of the trailer, Mae Martin’s Netflix series will be both hilarious and heartwarming.\nAccording to her IMDb, Martin was born in Toronto but relocated to the UK in 2011. She began performing comedy at the age of 13 and even trained at Second City, which has also introduced big names like Mike Myers, Catherine O’Hara, and Tina Fey to the comedy world.\nThe 32-year-old’s latest project is a show called Feel Good, which is based loosely off of Martin’s real life. The series synopsis on YouTube reads, “Mae Martin stars as herself, a Canadian comedian living in London, navigating a relationship with her new girlfriend, George and dealing with sobriety.”\nIn the trailer, we see Martin performing stand-up in a bar, making stereotypical Canadian jokes. “I’m from Canada. I came over in a canoe recently, with Celine Dion,” she says.\nShe can’t help but notice a girl in the audience who’s been to her shows before—George. The two get to talking and quickly find themselves falling for one another.\nNetflix | YouTube\nGeorge and Mae find themselves in a pretty serious relationship, but it doesn’t take long before the secrets of her struggle with addiction catch up with her, putting her relationship on the rocks.\nBritish Comedy Guide reports that the series also stars Charlotte Ritchie (Fresh Meat), Sophie Thompson (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Lisa Kudrow (Friends), Adrian Lukis (Pride and Prejudice), and Phil Burgers (Our Time), among others.\nNetflix | YouTube\nAccording to Radio Times, the upcoming series will consist of just six episodes that follow Mae as she navigates not only her relationship with George, but also with her parents, fellow recovering addicts, and friends.\nFeel Good hits Netflix on March 19.
