It's a sad day in the world of sitcom television. A childhood favourite of mine, Modern Family has announced that the series will be coming to an end after it's 11th season. The news was announced by ABC President, Karey Burke, during the 2019 Television Critic's Association winter press tour.

When Modern Family first came out, I was way too young to understand most of the jokes, but it was still a show that brought me a lot of joy. Now that I'm older, and can actually understand the comedy, it's safe to say that I enjoy watching the Dunphy family and their dysfunctional relatives navigate life and some very interesting relationships.

Many fans thought that season 10 would be a final for the series, but ABC has promised that the upcoming season will be full of "milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won't want to miss." Sounds promising (and perhaps emotional).

Over the years, Modern Family has won a total of 22 Emmys, a Golden Globe, four SAG Awards, a Peabody Award, two GLAAD Media Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, six WGA awards, four PGA awards, a Television Critics Award, and of course, the hearts of millions of viewers.

Although the show is coming to an end, there's always hope that it will be added to Netflix, or one of the many other up and coming streaming services!
