There are some fanbases that are more powerful than anyone thinks. The movement to save Anne With An E is proof of that. A petition to renew the show for a fourth season just hit one million signatures.\nThe change.org petition, created eight months ago by user Blytheshirley101 Fan account, got its one-millionth signature on July 24.\nThat's six times more people than the actual population of Prince Edward Island, the province where the story takes place.\nShortly after it reached this goal, the phrase "Anne One Million" began trending on Twitter.\nAs of writing, there have been over 38,000 additional signatures, with more still pouring in. The petition has now set a new goal of obtaining an additional 500,000.\nIt was started after the announcement in November 2019 that the series, based on Anne Of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, would end after its third season.\nFans of the show immediately expressed their disappointment in the decision, and got the hashtag #renewannewithane trending on Twitter.\nThey didn't stop there, though. Anne devotees also headed over to the Netflix YouTube page, and filled the comments section with calls to save the show.\nI think the most important question today is how is everyone?! Reply below with ANNE ONE MILLION and let me know 🥺 I’m so happy rn I can’t believe we made it 😭 pic.twitter.com/wV5oARDRfr— 🌸Queen Cordelia🌸 (@amazerfulanne) July 25, 2020\nDespite the fervour from the fanbase, creator and showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett was not optimistic about there being anymore Anne With An E for the foreseeable future.\n"I wish it could be different but it cannot," she wrote in a November 25 Instagram post, "We have reached the end of the red Green Gables road after 3 wonderful seasons."\nThe movement to bring the show back also got a huge celebrity push in January, when none other than Ryan Reynolds showed his support for the series.\nThe Canadian actor replied to a tweet from Netflix announcing the release of the final season, writing "You guys might want to renew Anne with an E. Unless 'final season' is just a fun way of saying 'halfway point'."\nEven if Anne With An E never actually makes a return, at least some fans can always remember it through their tattoos.
