Netflix and cable television are overflowing with amazing shows right now and lately. Schitt's Creek has been taking over headlines as it claims the title for the best show on TV. But since its 2016 release, the Netflix Original Stranger Things has been creeping up the charts and even recently got called the most-watched show ever on Netflix. So it may come as a surprise to hear that Schitt's Creek beat Stranger Things in the TV Guide's "25 Best Shows of the Decade".

This list was released earlier this week and it was a countdown going from least to best shows. Coming in at number 14 was Stranger Things but it was showed up by Schitt's Creek which came in at number eight.

In their explanation, writer Christopher Rosen for TV Guide said that Stranger Things is, "an original creation that future generations will try to emulate when they want to harken back to the shows of their youth", citing Stephen King and Steven Spielberg's work as inspiration for the show.

And when it comes to Schitt's Creek, TV Guide writer Megan Vick said the show is "the kind of sleeper hit everyone who watches becomes obsessed with", and that it "has become a heartwarming gem about humanity at its best (and weirdest)." Just last week, TV Guide also released a countdown of "The 100 Best Shows Right Now" where Schitt's Creek came in first place! Of course, Stranger Things also made the 100 best shows list, coming in at number six, which is not too shabby.

Dan Levy, who co-created the show with his father, Eugene Levy, tweeted about the nomination, saying that it is "an honour".

Other notable shows made the best shows of the decade list like Netflix's GLOW at number 18, Jane the Virgin at number 16, Bob's Burgers at number 15, The Good Place at number 11, and Game of Thrones at number 10. The top three shows were The Leftovers in third place, Veep in second place, and The Americans took the cake in first place.

Stranger Things was renewed for a fourth season which won't be out until 2020, or even as late as 2021. The sixth and final season of Schitt's Creek will air on CBC in January 2020. Good news: that's pretty soon. Bad news: that's the end of the show.

So what do you think? Do you agree that Schitt's Creek is a better show than Stranger Things?
