We’re not in Hawkins anymore. A new Prime Video original is hitting the platform next month and some viewers might find similarities between the new release and another hit sci-fi series. Tales from the Loop could be Prime Video’s very own Stranger Things.\nThe series, based on an art book by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, takes place in a town that lives under peculiar circumstances. They reside above “The Loop” that IMDb describes as “a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe, experience things previously consigned to the realm of science fiction.“\nStarring Rebecca Hall, Duncan Joiner, and Daniel Zolghadri, it will follow the lives of a group of children who travel their town exploring the phenomenons left behind by “The Loop.”\nTaking viewers back to the nostalgia of North America in the 1980s, the series shares a similar vibe to that of Stranger Things who premiered their unique concept back in 2016.\nTheir sci-fi connections go even further than having a similar concept to the Netflix series. It was also produced by Nathaniel Halpern, the mind behind the fantasy show Legion.\nAmazon Prime Video | YouTube\nThe series spent months last year using Manitoba, Canada as the show’s backdrop. Nicole Matiation, the executive director of On Screen Manitoba revealed the province was chosen for their appealing tax credit.\nWhether or not Tales from the Loop will grow to be as widespread as Stranger Things is yet to be seen. However, if their multi-million dollar budget is any indication, the streaming service may have high hopes for their newest series.\nTales from the Loop begins streaming April 3.
